Welcome to my page!

I've decided to theme my page on something I'm sure you've all heard me ranting about...

=BIKRAM YOGA!=
Bikram Yoga was named after Bikram Choudhury , the man who invented it over 30 years ago. It is a healing regime with a base in science and is designed to keep you happy and healthy!

There are 26 postures conducted over a 90 minute period, and this may sound hard enough but don't forget
- you have to do it in 37-degree heat!

I love it because it teaches inner happiness, peace of mind and dedication. I want to have these qualities with me in the classroom when I finally get to teach. A quote I associate with what I learn and practice at Yoga is this:

"Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment."
— Eckhart Tolle

I think it has an important philosophy behind it, one that most people would benefit from embracing.

Here are a few pictures of the postures we practice:

I think it is important to embrace life and all it has to offer; the good, the bad, because it is a learning experience. I'm sure that as teachers we will all come across situations where we just want to give up, where we think it's too hard, when we've lost sight of why we've chosen to surround ourselves with noisy children for the rest of our careers. When it gets like that, just think of this:

It would take the famous French artist Henri Matisse, toward the end of his life, a very long time to get out of bed every morning. One day his caretaker asked him, "Why, Henri, do you go through such pain to get up and work everyday ... you have your place in history, you have all the money you want and fame. Why??"
Henri simply replied, "because the beauty surpasses the pain."

With that inspiring analogy, I hope you enjoy our wiki!
